The anointed, illuminated, and revealed Word of God produces faith for the miraculous to happen!
Romans 10:17 – So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God [Christ – the Anointed One] (NKJV).
1. All of the revealed words of the Anointed One carry the infused power of the anointing necessary to produce the needed miracle.
2. Jesus, anointed Messiah, the Christ, said all of the works that He did should also be done by the anointed and believing Church.
John 14:12 – “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father” (NKJV).
B. Four questions and an answer:
1. Do we believe the Bible?
2. Do we believe the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ ministry on earth?
3. Do we believe the words of Jesus from John 14:12?
4. If we are going to do the same works and – greater works – how are we going to do them?
5. Answer: We will have to do them the same way that Jesus did them.
Matthew 10:24 – “A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master” (NKJV).
C. Jesus did not use His position of authority as deity to perform miracles, but used the anointed Word of the Father and faith.
1. He did it as a man under authority, anointed by the Holy Spirit.
2. He heard and obeyed.
John 8:28b – …I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things (NKJV).
3. We will get the greatest results as a group of believers, all focused on learning to hear more clearly and increasing our faith for the good of all.
D. Authority must be used with humility.
1. When the disciples asked Jesus to increase their faith, He taught them about the authority and humility that must be exercised along with faith.
Luke 17:5-10
5 And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.”
6 So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.
7 “And which of you, having a servant plowing or tending sheep, will say to him when he has come in from the field, ‘Come at once and sit down to eat’?
8 “But will he not rather say to him, ‘Prepare something for my supper, and gird yourself and serve me till I have eaten and drunk, and afterward you will eat and drink’?
9 “Does he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I think not.
10 “So likewise you, when you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, ‘We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do’” (NKJV).
2. Humility demonstrates our understanding that we can of ourselves do nothing except what we hear from Jesus to do.
3. Then we can be like the Centurion whom Jesus commended for his great faith. The Centurion understood humility and authority.
Luke 7:7-9
7 “Therefore I did not even
think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be
healed.
8 “For I also am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
9 When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him, and turned around and said to the crowd that followed Him, “I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!” (NKJV).
E. When we hear the anointed, illuminated, and revealed Word of God and understand the authority of that Word, it produces faith for the miraculous to happen!
1. Remember the words of Jesus when He was told that His disciples could not cast the mute/epileptic spirit out of a man’s son.
Mark 9:19 – He answered him and said, “O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to Me” (NKJV).
2. When people failed to receive the miracle that they needed, Jesus never referenced “the mysterious will of God.” He only referred to lack of faith, no faith, or littleness of faith. And He always coupled these with fear, unbelief and hardness of heart.
3. Why do humans look for any reasons other than the one Jesus gives for our failure to receive miracles?
4. An illustration of the power in the words of the anointed Messiah, the Christ.
Matthew 14:22-33
22 Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him
to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away.
23 And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there.
24 But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.
25 Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea.
26 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear.
27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.”
28 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”
29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.
30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.
33 Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God” (NKJV).
CONCLUSION: Hear the rhema of Jesus to you. Obey His voice. See the miraculous.
